Who Are You?

Retired or Semi-Retired

You've worked hard all your life and now it is time to enjoy the benefits of those years of toil. Our experience shows that people typically require Game Plans at two stages during retirement.

The first area is what we have termed 'transition' and starts some 12 to 24 months out from retirement to shortly thereafter. There are some fundamental mechanics from receiving a regular income to living off your savings that need to be covered

The other area is sometime during retirement, normally when you may decide to slow down a little, where there is a need to determine that you are still able to do the things you want to do.

Some common questions people that are retiring or have retired ask us

How do I move from paid employment to being Self-Sufficient?

Hopefully you would have worked with NZFP prior to this stage in life and we would have been helping you prepare and understand how this works. If you haven't then NZFP is able to help you understand firstly what the investment capital you have saved will allow you to do, and secondly the practicalities when moving from earning wages and income to being self-sufficient and using your accumulated capital.

How much can I afford to do?

People are often unsure what they are able to spend each year to achieve a balance between doing the things that they want to and having enough capital left to do the things they still have planned. NZFP is able to help you understand your various options and more importantly give you peace of mind.

Can I afford to provide a legacy to my children or grandchildren?

Over the last few years we have noticed a shift from people leaving lump sums to their children or grandchildren to providing more specific funds such as paying for the grandchildren's education. Whatever it is you wish to do we are able to talk and work through varying options that are available to you including how to ensure a gift or legacy is used for the intended purpose.

How do I ensure that my wishes are adhered to?

There are a number of ways that we are able to help you do this. The first thing however is to work with you and understand what those wishes may be and how they will impact your ability to do the things that you want to. After that we can put in place strategies to make sure your wishes are fulfilled.
